What is search?

Learnable's new Search feature allows you to find specific lessons and resources more efficiently. We've developed the Search feature to help teachers and students quickly locate specific lessons or concepts. It's especially useful for when you:

  • Need a verified source of truth for a specific concept

  • Want to cross-check content before teaching

  • Are preparing lessons and need to pull resources quickly

How to access and use search

Both teacher and student users will be able to access Learnable Search, with slight differences between users. You will also be able to search across the entire Learnable resource bank, regardless of subject. You can use the available filters to restrict your search to specific subjects.

To access:

  1. Go to 'Content' in the main navigation

  2. Click on 'Search' to open

  3. Enter your search term in the search bar at the top of the page. You will be shown search results grouped by topic.

  4. Click on a relevant topic card to open or use the filters on the left to narrow your search results by subject.

  5. Once you are in a topic, you will see the available lessons within the topic. Click on a lesson to open a preview on the right-hand side or double-click to open the full lesson in a new tab.

Navigating and viewing search

Once you have opened a lesson, you will see the lesson and its constituent sections on the left-hand side.

On the right-hand side, you will see a search widget which can be used to find and navigate directly to another lesson. You will also see a related lessons widget which will allow you to see lessons sharing pre-requisite information or concepts.

Here's a quick summary of the information:

Left-hand panel

Right-hand panel

  • Shows the lesson you are currently viewing

  • Displays the sections within the lesson you are viewing

  • Search widget: quickly find related lessons by concept

  • Related lessons widget: get suggestions for lessons with similar topics

  • Lesson overview widget: get quick insights such as a lesson summary, estimated reading time, and the number of checkpoints

In the lesson viewer, teachers will see two tabs at the top of the page: lesson content and practice questions. These questions are the same bank of questions which are used by the task builder. You can preview and open questions in this tab.

Students will only see the lesson content tab as direct access to practice questions is not accessible for students.

About topic groups

We've pre-grouped lessons into topics to make it easier to find and navigate related content. It makes it easier to find specific concepts and topics within Learnable's large bank of resources.

For example, if you search for 'Newton's Laws' you may find a topic group called 'Newton's Laws of Motion' which will contain all lessons on Newton's first, second, and third laws.
