π This article is part of the 14 April 2025 update to the Learnable platform.
What are Collections?
With the latest update, we've introduced two new ways to access and explore Learnable lessons: Collections and Search. If you'd like to learn more about Search, check out the article here.
Collections are curated sets of Learnable lessons designed to align with specific curriculums. They organise lessons into a textbook-like structure, grouping lessons by subject and module for a more structured curriculum-friendly way to navigate Learnable resources.
How to think of Collections
Previously, Learnable lessons were access through courses - these have now been transformed into collections. If you're looking for a familiar course in the new layout, simply check for the corresponding collection.
Previous Course | Corresponding Collection |
Year 11 Biology | Year 11 Biology HSC Collection |
Year 12 Biology | Year 12 Biology HSC Collection |
Year 11 Chemistry | Year 11 Chemistry HSC Collection |
Year 12 Chemistry | Year 12 Chemistry HSC Collection |
Year 11 Physics | Year 11 Physics HSC Collection |
Year 12 Physics | Year 12 Physics HSC Collection |
Example: If you previously used the Year 11 Chemistry Course, you would now look for the Year 11 Chemistry Collection. It contains the same content, structured in a more intuitive and curriculum-aligned way.
Why use Collections?
Collections offer a more organised way to access content, and are particularly useful for classroom presentations or planning. If you're using Learnable as a self-guided textbook, you may like to instruct students to refer to a specific Learnable Collection throughout their studies.
How to Access Collections
You can now access any collection available within your Learnable licence. For NSW-based users, this will extend to the entire Learnable HSC Collection.
To access:
Go to 'Content' in your main navigation
Click on 'Collections' in the secondary navigation
Select your subject at the top of the page
You will see the available Lesson Books and Exam Packs listed for each subject
Click on the collection cover to open
Note: the available Collections in your Learnable account will vary by region or licence. Please contact [email protected] if you are unable to see a relevant collection for your region. Learn more about Collection availability.
Navigating and viewing collections
Once you have opened a collection, you will see the entire collection open in the Learnable content viewer. On the left-hand side, you will see all available lessons in the collection grouped by the order designated by the region/curriculum. Use this navigator to find and go to different lessons in the collection.
On the right-hand side, you will see a search widget which can be used to find and navigate directly to a lesson by concept. You will also see a related lessons widget which will allow you to see lessons sharing pre-requisite information or concepts.

Exam packs in collections
All exam content has been moved into collections as part of this update. You will find all available Exam Packs listed under the relevant subject collections.
Important: you can no-longer assign exams through the task interface. However, all users will be able to access and start an exam directly from collections. You will only be able to undertake an exam once as previously restricted, so please ensure you advise students on when to complete exam packs.
Why this change?
We're currently upgrading the exam interface to incorporate feedback from teachers. This will include a large bank of questions, better exam capabilities, and better alignment with real exam conditions and writing requirements. During this transitional phase, we've made sure exams are able to be accessed through Collections.
